Welcome to the Nailsea Churches FC annual charity 6-a-side tournament website
Every August Nailsea Churches FC organise a 6-a-side charity tournament that's held on the astro-turf pitch at Gordano School in Portishead. The idea behind the tournament is to get 8 mens teams together (a mixture of Bristol Church League and local business teams) to play some decent footy and at the same time raise as much money as possible for a chosen local charity.
The tournament was started up in 2005 and is now into its fourth year. The charities that have benfited in the past have been:
- 2005 - Portishead Youth Centre - we managed to raise £434 to help towards their redevelopment costs.
- 2006 - Ravenswood School (Nailsea) caters for children between the age of 4 and 19 with complex and severe learning difficulties and with autistic spectrum disorders. We managed to raise £593.50 for them to go towards buying a new minibus.
- 2007 - The Springboard Opportunity Group (Clevedon) is a charity set up to support children aged 0-5 with additional needs and their families in the North Somerset area. We managed to raise £910.52 for them to help with the running costs of the centre.
- 2008 - The Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre (Nailsea) offers physiotherapy, dietary advice from their dietician, help concerning benefits etc., counselling and hyperbaric oxygen therapy for MS sufferers, all taking place in a very relaxed, friendly atmosphere. We managed to raise a whopping £924 for them to help with the running costs of the centre.

Thank Yous
There are a number of people/organisations that make regular contributions to the running of the tournament and we'd like to take this opportunity to thank them:
- Baldor UK - For always entering a team (but never winning the tournament ;o) and raising wadges of cash for the charity each year.
- Gordano School - Who give us a generous discount on the hire of the pitch, which means more of the money raised goes to the charity.
- John Sheppard - who has kindly given his photographic services to us since 2007. Please check out his photos on the photos page.
- And to everyone else that has ever taken part, refereed or donated to our chosen charity - A HUGE THANK YOU TO YOU ALL!
